The Code 11.59 collection by Audemars Piguet carries forward the illustrious legacy established by Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet in1875.

The ability to chart an independent course is the prerogative of those who are armed with theconviction to define their own path tosuccess. The story of Audemars Piguet, which began in 1875, is the result of this exact same self-belief. The oldestfine watchmaking manufacturer whichis still in the hands of its founding families, Audemars Piguet started its legacy of creating benchmarks when Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet decided towalk in another direction than the one established by industrialisation. Seemingly oblivious to the lure of mass markets, they crafted unique complicated watches and since then, Audemars Piguet is synonymous with abiding values of artistic excellence and technical mastery.

The Code 11.59 collection by Audemars Piguet is a fascinating aspect of this evolution. A ground-breakingamalgamation of exceptional aesthetics and transformative technologies, the11.59 collection, quite simply, stands in a class of its own making. It begins withthe case where interweaving tensions and opposite forces in the design philosophyhave resulted in a uniquely recognisable case.

An octagonal middlecase within a round case is a grand encapsulation of Audemars Piguet’s glorious history of form and design experimentation. The upper part of theopenworked lugs is welded to the extra-thinbezel, while the lower part leans against thecaseback in perfect alignment. The cured ergonomics of the case makes it comfortable for different wrist sizes inspite of the 41mmdiameter. Satin-brushed, bevelled and polished, the bezel, lugs and case are perfect representations of the aesthetic sensibilities of Code 11.59.

The design reaches higher levels with the complex, double curved, glare-proof sapphirecrystal whose arched profile encapsulates
a modern visual philosophy. The internalsurface of the glass is shaped like a domewhile the external surface curves verticallyfrom 6 to 12 o’clock. This brings aspects ofdepth, perspective and light into play and creates a compelling visual experience.

The Audemars Piguet signature on Code11.59 is a work of art all by itself. Measuring12.5 mm in length, it is made of thin layers of24-carat gold and has been achieved through a chemical process known as galvanic growth. It is a technique which is based on micro-electronics and is utilised in horology for movements. But galvanic growthhas been used for the first time on 24-carat gold for the 11.59 and that is certainly a landmark moment.

The Code 11.59 collection features a choice of six in-house calibres of the latest generation, of which three are new – an integrated column wheelchronograph with flyback function,
a self-winding calibre with seconds and date indication and a self-windingflying tourbillion calibre. The Code 11.59 is brought to a flourish by the trademark Audemars Piguet finishingwhich features a grand array offinishing techniques including ‘traits tires’, ‘Cotes de Geneve’, circular graining, circular satin, diamond- polished angles and gold-toned engravings.
