Eat, Drink & Make Merry: Scotland's Popular Whisky Festival 'The Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival' Is Coming To India For The Very First Time

Each year 'The Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival' curates experiences with whiskies and the India edition will see a day full of activities.

Every year, people from around the world head to Duffton in Scotland to sip on whisky and make merry at the six-day Spirit of Speyside Festival held in May. But this year, whisky afficianados don’t have to fly to Scotland anymore. Instead, the merry making can happen in Mumbai itself.

Slated to be held on 15 February at The Dram Club at The Park Mumbai, Juhu, the festival will feature eight whiskies shortlisted by experts in Speyside across categories. They include 12-years-old and under, 13 to 20 years old, 21 years old and over, and non-age statements. Here’s what to look forward to at the festival: 

4-course Glenlivet paired lunch with chef Sarita Pereira
The four-course lunch will be paired with four Glenlivet whiskies–12, 15, 18 and 21 years. The Dram Club will also showcase Glenlivet 21, which was the winner last year at The Speyside Whisky Awards.
When: 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm
Cost: Rs 5,000

Blind tasting and voting for Speyside Whisky Awards
The Blind Tasting Sessions will be conducted in three batches of 20 voters each. The votes will be recorded and then sent to Speyside. When: The schedule of the tasting is 3pm, 4pm and 5pm. 

Glenfiddich Masterclass with Angad Singh Gandhi, brand ambassador India, Glenfiddich
Gandhi will talk about the history and philosophy of whisky making with a selection of some of the finest malts from the Speyside Distillery.
Cost: Rs 2,500

Amrut masterclass
The Indian single malt whisky brand will host a masterclass with some of their offerings
When: 3.30pm to 4.30pm
Cost: Rs 2,000

GlenGrant Whisky with dessert pairing
Suchana Sharma, GlenGrant manager,  will conduct a masterclass of GlenGrant 10 and 18. The drinks will be paired with desserts that compliment the flavours. 
When: 4.45pm to 5.45pm
Cost: Rs 2,250

Paul John masterclass 
Indian single malt Paul Johnson’s master distiller Michael D’Souza will curate an exclusive tasting for just 25 guests. The line-up will have some of the newer expressions.
When: 6 pm to 7 pm
Cost: Rs 2,000

Price of the ticket: Rs. 5,000 per head (Inclusive of Opening Lunch+One Masterclass+ the blind tasting session)
